Recovery Doesn’t End at Discharge

Reframing how we think & talk about recovery, rest, & enrichment after dogs go home.

Everyone means well. The dog is home. The pet parent is overwhelmed. Now what?

Why This Exists

Most discharge conversations focus on what not to do.

Less time is spent helping clients understand how to support calm behavior, emotional regulation, & rest once the dog is home, especially during prolonged recovery.

This page is intentionally not yet a finished toolkit.

It’s a starting point.

A place to rethink how we talk about recovery and what dogs and caregivers actually need to succeed after discharge

Our Approach

This space is designed to do two things:

Prompt a shift in how recovery is discussed from restriction-only language to supportive, realistic guidance.

Invite veterinary & behavior professionals into shaping what recovery enrichment client communication should look like.

Rather than handing out generic instructions, the goal is to spark:

🐾 better questions & clearer language

🐾 more achievable plans for life after discharge
